Floral Shorts and Grey Fishnets + Wishpot

It's windy out again. I fear I am always a victim of disheveled hair, but then again, I wouldn't have it any other way.

Feather Necklace

I instantly fell in love with this necklace today. It's become my new statement piece. Initially, I was looking for feather earrings, but I'd take this necklace over earrings any day.

No Makeup

I took a break from makeup today and hung around in my house in comfy sweats and a tee. So many makeup artists stress that avoiding cosmetics whenever possible is essential to good skin.

Luckily, my internship with FASHION NINJA allows me to work from home, so that's a plus for a girl who appreciates a good low key day every now and then.

Yesterday I took some clothes that I don't wear to the local resale shop. Based on their credit system, I received 35% of the value back in cash. It's not a ton, but it's definitely something to put in the bank. I'm attempting to turn over a new leaf and stop lusting after so many things at once.

Realistically, it's still safe to pine over fashion, but I don't want to give into every single temptation.

Karmaloop 20% off Rep Code

I always feel the most comfortable in my black skinnies, black boots, and rocker tees.

Also, I've paired up with Karmaloop and I come bearing gifts.

Get 20% off your first purchase.

Might I recommend the Tripp NYC skinnies? I'm completely and hopelessly addicted, and it's been this way since I was 18 and battled with my black cigarette pants- which probably were and still are the tightest pants I've ever owned.

So this is how it works. Use my REP code, which is: EVERYROADARUNWAY at the end of your checkout. And ta-da, you've earned yourself 20% off of your first purchase!

I've already ordered another pair of Tripp's from Karmaloop. A girl can never have enough black skinnies, right?

Zac Posen for Target

Zac Posen for Target officially arrived today. My local Target had a pretty good selection, but it seemed like everything in my size had vanished! I tried on a few dresses and shirts, but ended up not buying a single piece.

I really liked this dress - Zac Posen for Target® Snap Tape Dress - Blue

However, the front was a little strange. It dipped past my chest and had an unflattering square neckline. Also, it hit my waist at the wrong point, so I felt as though I looked wider than I really am.

The second piece- Zac Posen for Target® Pleated Tie Top - Pink/Tie-Dye Print

It's definitely one of those 'wow' pieces. I immediately liked the colors, and then upon closer inspection, was a little turned off by the design. However, when I tried it on, the shirt was actually flattering and longer, so it seems very work appropriate. The only reason I didn't buy it was because it's $35, and I'm trying to be super careful about buying things without specific places to wear them.

I also tried on:
Zac Posen for Target® Tiger Print Sailor Dress - Multicolor

Zac Posen for Target® Chambray Dress - Blue

These two dresses just didn't fit right. Of course, it's probably because they didn't have my size, so I tried to size up or down, but it was no good, my friends.

The collection, in general, seemed to be very well made and constructed out of good materials. If you're willing to spend the cash, I'd say check out your local Target. Zac Posen originals run for tons of money, so a price range of $30-$70 isn't too bad.

I'll be catching up on comments tomorrow!

Mary Kate Olsen

When I think of beautiful long hair, I think of Mary Kate Olsen.

Keeping it real... real long.

And let's not forget MK's Balenciaga boots. Sam Edelman Zoe boot, someday you shall be mine.

Anyone notice my obsession with impractical footwear lately?

Jeffrey Campbell Killer Zip Wedge [Nasty Gal]

Nasty Gal, you've done it again...

Just as I was drooling over the Alexa wedge, Nasty Gal introduces the Killer Zip Wedge. They're the beautiful lovechild of the Pixie and the Alexa.

Check them out HERE.

It's just bad timing after I splurged on a L.A.M.B. bag!

You're killing me here, Nasty Gal!

Webcam Shots

As much as I try, I don't always have the time or the means to take a daily outfit post. It would be amazing to get into the habit of always stepping in front of the camera right before I I leave home, but that's not always feasible. Part of the photographer inside of me fantasizes about my very own photo studio settled in some nook in my house, and I have to tell myself that in some manner, it's possible, but not probable.

This issue left me wondering how satisfying webcam shots are to a fashion blogger audience. Setting up my Mac's camera takes merely seconds, and while the quality of the photographs isn't stunning, I figure it's better than nothing. Webcam shots are good for those quickies when I want to share my newest nailpolish color or t-shirt. A webcam certainly isn't my first method of choice, but is it good enough every now and then?

Sometimes webcam shots feel like cheating, but they can also feel a bit more honest and raw. The quality of the photos hinders any magical Photoshop transformations. Not that I do heavy editing to my photographs, but a few tweaks in lighting and saturation enhance fashion photographs.

Do webcam photos compromise the quality of the blog? Or are they better than nothing, especially for daily readers?

Feel free to vote from the drop down box. Also comments explaining choices or anything else are certainly welcome!

Please note that after you vote, you'll be taken to the results page on PollCode.com. Just click the back button on your browser to get back to the blog.

How do you feel about webcam shots on a fashion blog?

Jeffrey Campbell Alexa Wedge

I would not mind owning these, wearing these, and loving these to the very bitter end.

I do believe I missed out on LF's limited edition and cannot afford to scoop them up on Ebay. Yes, they're utterly ridiculous, but that's why I love them.

There are tons of knock offs on Ebay, but none of them have the contrast metal sole lining like the Alexa Wedges.

So if anyone has any leads, send them my way!

My other Jeffrey Campbell's broke after one wear, so I'm a bit apprehensive to invest in another expensive pair. I've seen the Pixie, the 99's, and the Raid. But none of them compare to the Alexa.

The Raid:

Maybe I'll settle for the Raid someday.

In other news, how saucy is this pair of Tripp NYC pants?

Lace and rips? Every little rebel child's dream.

Hopefully they're just as slick in person because they should arrive within the week!

Balmain Inspired

As promised, here are the shots of my scores from Zara. It's no surprise my finds both came from the military inspired rack-- aka the Balmain inspired section of Zara.

I'm definitely going to switch my bottoms to tights or leggings, but the sequined shorts were fun to play around in for photos. When it gets warmer out, the shorts will probably become one of my go to statement staples.

I love the details of these two garments. Both have a slouchy fit, and a good deal of destroyed texture.

H&M had one pair of these tennis shoes left, and they were in my size! I haven't had shoes like these in years, but I think they'll make a lovely and comfortable summer shoe. I cannot stand flip flops and absolutely refuse to wear them, so this floral pair is a perfect alternative.

Nordstrom: A Religious Experience

Chicago has left me in a dreamlike state. There was plenty of wandering around the city with wide eyes, and there existed those quiet moments, when I stood by the window and gazed around the city through the glass.

My sister, Lauren, and I observed that women in Chicago are so much more fashionable, and so much more aware of how to dress themselves. Even jeans, a simple tee, and a ten second updo look amazing on these windy city natives. I even spotted girls who looked like they were models- they possessed that chic sensibility and grace only agency girls can effortlessly emanate.

My main destination in Chicago? Zara. So many bloggers from around the word have credited pieces of their ensembles to Zara, and I have always felt jealous. It's definitely safe to say Zara is a beautiful combination of H&M and Forever 21, only better. The bottom floor had me fooled. It reminded me a lot of the conservative 'all grown up' women's section at H&M. Simple and appropriate for work. It took me a while to discover the escalator that led to the more affordable floor.

Zara was a madhouse. I had to wait in line ten minutes to even get a dressing room. I walked away with three pieces, and yes, one of the items is a pair of harem pants! The two other items are absolutely Balmain inspired and gorgeous. I'll take photos tomorrow when it's light out.

Now, my friends, onto the awakening of my fashion soul: Nordstrom. I cannot believe this place. The handbag section was difficult enough to walk through. Marc by Marc Jacobs, L.A.M.B., Alexander McQueen, Chloe...

I browsed the handbags for a good twenty minutes, and even walked around with a handbag like I was going to buy it just to feel the weight of it in the hands. Seriously, how could anyone not lust after these? And I waded through the Alexander McQueen skulls scarves! $260... slightly out of my reach.

I drooled over the newest L.A.M.B. bags and even toyed with the idea of buying a Marc by Marc Jacobs bag for $300 on sale.

Eventually I wandered over to the women's clothes, and had a religious experience. Marc Jacobs $2,220 leather coat IN MY HANDS. Elizabeth and James. Helmut Lang. See by Chloé I kept moving from rack to rack with my friends in tow. I would see a new designer and shout out the name, "Oh! The Row! Oh my god, you guys. Oh..." Then I would caress the clothes. It was so alien to me to not only see the designer labels, but feel them and have all of these wonderful garments so absolutely accessible to me.

And then... it happened.

"OH, OH MY GOD. YOU GUYS. IT'S... ALEXANDER WANG."

An entire RACK of Alexander Wang. I did not want go leave.

Nordstrom was a mix of love and hate. It was an amazing feeling to see and feel everything I've only witnessed through a computer screen or magazine pages. But it was also sort of depressing to know I'd have to be a millionaire to regularly shop at a place so wondrous as Nordstrom.

And I couldn't help myself... this homage needed to be created.

Thanks for the love affair, Nordstrom. I'll be sticking to the clearance rack and cruising the web for sweet underground sales.

If anyone would still like a Shop It To Me invite, let me know. Sites like that, along with other companies, like Gilt, give us thrifty fashion addicts hope.

Please let me know if you'd like a Shop It To Me or Gilt invite!

A Short and Sweet Fashion Search [Guest Post]

I'll be venturing out to Chicago this weekend, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to hop onto a computer.

However, I still have some reading for everyone. Check out my guest blogger post over at Ely's chíc blog, Ripped Nylon.

I wrote about how to hunt down items that seem to be impossible to find.

Read the post here: A Short and Sweet Fashion Search.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Lake Michigan Photos

The temperature in Milwaukee reached over 80 degrees together. Kat and I decided to venture out to the lake for some relaxation and sun.

I played around with the saturation of the photos just a bit to balance out the light.

And introducing my sister, Kat..

Leopard T-shirt Dress

Arika of FASHION NINJA and I got together today to discuss the latest videos for her line. She's got a handful of new designs coming out within the next few weeks, and I'm definitely looking forward to their release!

One of the videos is stop motion inspired and with a dash of Dragonette, but it needs a tiny bit of tweaking before it goes live. As soon as it's ready, I'll post it.

Today proved warm enough for a t-shirt dress and tights! I think my landlord was walking in my yard and spotted me posing by the window for these shots. A bit awkward!

And yes, that is a camera remote in my hand. My secret of single person photo shoots has been revealed...

Dragonette

Music sets the mood. I imagine a lot of girls and guys are a lot like me-- when getting ready to go out and face the world, I've got to put on the right music.

More often than not, it's a dance-orientated artist with a little bit of spunk and dangerously confident lyrics.

Dragonette has been meeting this need for the past few days. Think about it, when you get ready in the morning, it's like your personal and private fashion show. You select the look of the day and probably try on a few outfits until you feel satisfied. Makeup, hair, clothes, shoes, accessories...

Music not only sets the mood, but it inspires a temporary creation.

Definitely check out Dragonette. Headphones for a superb listening experience are highly recommended.

BDG Striped Top

Just a quickie today. I'm feeling pretty under the weather thanks to a nasty sore throat. I hope its visit is brief because I hate monitoring how much I can talk for the sake of resting my voice.

Mondays are my errand days, [laundry, grocery shopping, odds and ends] so I usually dress with comfort and mobility in mind. Add this to being sick, and it's t-shirt, jeans, and low key bun kind of day.
