Dressing in the Name of Nostalgia

I totally missed out on Gilt's Alexander Wang sale. How did this happen?!

Here are two outfits that I haven't posted yet.

A long tank and a loose bun, the only way to survive the heat.

I decided to dress in honor of nostalgia the other day-- short shorts, flannel shirt, and Ked inspired shoes from H&M. It felt refreshing to dress the way I used to when I was 10.

Outfit 2: [flannel top: Target, shorts and shoes: H&M]

Giveaway! Orient Watch - Automatic Watch

I'm proud to announce Every Road a Runway's second giveaway. The loot, you ask?

Why, it's an automatic watch from Orient Watch! Orient Watches are a sweet balance of funky and sophisticated. Watches are one of the few things that remain both functional and showy.

Orient Watch has a really simple and refined website featuring everything from their Urban style watches, like: CERAE001B and Sporty style watches, like: CTT01001D.

If you're like me, and you're a sucker for really nicely designed websites, click the Orient logo. I'd like to thank my boyfriend for making me appreciate a quality website design. Haha.

Like most of you, I've been over buying plastic watches for years. I've found myself in some sort of limbo where I don't want a watch that's too dainty or flimsy, but I don't want something heavy or bulky. I'd like a timepiece. Haha, yes, a timepiece that can keep up with me and add that little edge to any outfit.

Since I'm on my new work appropriate outfit kick, I think this is the perfect time for a watch giveaway. Ah, ah? Get it? A pun.

Here are the details, so please read carefully!

The contest is open to US residents only. Sorry to any of my readers outside of the US! The winner will be contacted by a representative from Orient Watch USA, so I am not responsible for anything that happens after the giveaway. I'm not sure which model watch will be given away, but that's something the winner can discuss with Orient Watches. The winner will be chosen at random.

It starts tonight and ends in two weeks, which is August 10th, at midnight.

To enter:
1. Please make sure you're a follower of my blog through Google Reader/Blogger.
2. Leave your email address in a comment.

Good luck!

Also, I am crushing on this watch I just found on their website. Hi Orient Watches, if you're feeling generous, I would rock the heck out of this watch. It reminds me of dreamy clouds. A girl's gotta try...

Work Casual in BDG Cardigan

Work has got me beat! I went from 5 hours of work a week to 40, and it's been a huge shock. Still, I'm learning how to dress myself differently, and my default outfit is no longer ripped black skinnies and an oversized tank.

Whenever I go to Urban, I always check out the guy's clearance section. They have the best sweaters and tees. I steal all of my boyfriend's BDG sweaters because they're so darn soft and comfy. The girl's sweaters tend to be a lot more flimsy, but the boy versions have some texture to them!

I think I need more cardigans. Ironic that it's over 80 degrees out, and the only item on my shopping list is cardigans. Air conditioning in a huge office makes me immune to whatever is happening outside.

Also, the leopard oxfords were such a score. I spied them through the window at Urban Outfitters and lost hope because anything in a window is usually new and full priced. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the shoes were on sale for $20 instead of $48. I found a pair in half a size too big, but since the shoes are narrow, I just put sole inserts in, and now they fit perfectly.

[cardigan and flats: Urban Outfitters, black skinnies: Tripp NYC from Karmaloop, v-neck and necklace: Forever 21, bag: H&M]

Also, I almost completely forgot that I had registered for a Karmaloop REP code long ago.

I was chatting with a girl in a community I belong to, and she told me my discount code saved her 20% on some Jeffrey Campbell shoes. So if anyone wants 20% off from Karmaloop, use my REP code!

REP Code: EVERYROADARUNWAY

So you get 20% the first time you use it and 10% forever on after that. Heaven knows I'm a manic for coupon codes and secret sales.

Jeffrey Campbell Exam

I am a believer once again.

For a while, I was wary of rocking another pair of Jeffrey Campbell shoes due to some bad luck with my last pair. But friends, hear me now, I am suffering from Jeffrey Campbell fever once again.

Behold, my Exams.

To the people at JC, and one very amazing person in specific, thank you for hooking me up! You have renewed your vows with an admirer once again. You are good people.

These shoes are dare I say... siqq. The lack of heel support in the back of the shoe made me a little anxious, but they're unbelievably stable. They come in gold, silver, and black.

Get them at Solestruck.

Also, thank you so much to everyone who congratulated me on my new job, and everyone who has shown support for my blog as of late. You guys are the bee's knees.

Dust In My Wind

Dust in My Wind was kind enough to feature me as a Blogger Spotlight.

Head on over and check out my interview.

Thanks, Dust in My Wind!

I also want to thank everyone who has been reading and participating on my blog. I know I haven't been able to update as much as I used to or as much as I'd like, but the support is energizing! Even though my schedule is super hectic right now, I'm still going to try and reach out to every single person who does the same to me.

Diane Von Furstenberg, DVF

I mentioned in my last post that I had some good news.

The good news is that I finally got a job! I work at the corporate enter for one of the biggest department stores in the country. For the sake of privacy, I won't say which store. However, it's my first time in a professional work atmosphere with a business attire dress code. It's exciting thinking of how I can present myself to the world in this new way.

It freaked me out at first because I realized I have very few outfits that would be appropriate for this atmosphere, save for black skinnies and basic shirts. Keep in mind my wardrobe consists mainly of ripped skinnies, oversized tees, and acid wash/destroyed everything.

This new outlook on fashion has increased my lust for Diane Von Furstenberg dresses. They're classy, timeless, and flattering for every sort of figure.

Allistaire Woven Silk Drape Dress $375
Delia Side-Tie Dress $298
Stirling Silk Jersey Sheath Dress $345

I will take one of everything, please.

And I will take this one for casual Fridays because a party dress is casual, right?

H&M Bubble Shorts and Lace Tee

I have some good news, but I'm waiting to see if everything will work out as planned!

These shorts are so soft and comfortable. They're a little loose, but that's nothing a round in the washing machine can't remedy.

Sorry for the short update. I'll have a big photo post coming up!
